Export and Sustainable Positioning of the Bulgarian Music Scene on the International Market
10 September 2025

The Bulgarian Music Association (BMA) has announced the launch of the strategic project “Export and Sustainable Positioning of the Bulgarian Music Scene on the International Market”. The initiative aims to take Bulgarian music to a new level by increasing its export potential and strengthening the presence of Bulgarian artists on leading European stages.

The project is focused on creating real opportunities for Bulgarian musicians and representatives of the music industry to participate in international formats, build connections with professionals in the sector, and reach new audiences. Activities include the participation of Bulgarian artists in seven key European showcase festivals, organizing trade missions in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and the Czech Republic, professional training for performers and managers, as well as a mentoring program with leading music experts.

Through these activities, the project will support not only the professional capacity building of Bulgarian artists but also the expansion of BMA’s international network, opening new sustainable pathways for future partnerships. Participants will undergo specialized training in music management, digital distribution, marketing, and publishing, while individual mentoring will ensure their successful stage presentation before international audiences.

The project “Export and Sustainable Positioning of the Bulgarian Music Scene on the International Market” is an important step toward enhancing the international prestige of Bulgarian culture and integrating our country into the European music ecosystem.

The project is funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU instrument: Export and Sustainable Positioning of the Bulgarian Music Scene on the International Market.

Stage Map | BG is the result of the two-year project for wide-ranging mapping of the music sector in the country, which the BMA launched in 2020 as part of its sectoral initiatives. The aim of the project is to improve information provision and support the development of effective cultural policies and financing mechanisms.

The application is open to all stage spaces in Bulgaria, offering easy and quick access to an extensive array of data. This enables artists-performers to plan their activities without wasting time on additional research, making the process more efficient and easy.

We believe that this product will be of great benefit not only to the music sector, but also to all other performing arts, helping to facilitate their integration and development in the cultural scene of Bulgaria.
