Educational Perspectives (2018 – 2021)
18 November 2024

Educational Perspectives is a long-term project of BMA, which is implemented during the period 2018 – 2021. In 2019, the project was transformed into an independent direction in the activities of the BMA, including a number of national and international initiatives, such as round tables on the modernization of wind instrument training, project writing training partner projects and more. In 2021, due to the growth of the activity, part of the project was separated into a separate legal entity, and the BMA continues to work actively in the direction of improving and modernizing the educational methodology in music schools through its networking and advocacy activities.

  • Educational project “The trombone and the modern European music” (2019) The Trombone and the Modern European Music Project was created on the idea of Prof. Atanas Karafezliev in partnership with the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”. It included a concert by the Slokar Quartet and a master class with Prof. Branimir Slokar. The trombone master class attracted 27 participants from Bulgaria and North Macedonia and was successfully financed by the Culture Capital Program.
  • Brass Perspectives (2019 – 2021) The Brass Perspectives Project, created by Prof. Karafezliev and Velislav Stoyanov, aims to modernize the teaching of brass instruments and promote the multi-genre training of young musicians. It features a series of roundtables and brass workshops, with each event attracting professionals and students from across the country.
  • Summer academy for brass ensembles and percussion instruments (2020 – 2021)  was a pilot event that laid the foundations for a long-term project for a youth brass society. In 2021 the academy was successfully held with 50 participants from various music schools in Bulgaria. The partnership with the municipality of Koprivshtitsa created opportunities for future joint initiatives in the field of education and culture.
  • Rock Masters Project – mentoring session

The Rock Masters Project was implemented in partnership with Sofia Live Club and provided innovative mentoring sessions for young rock musicians. Regardless of the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the format proved its value and attracted considerable attention among young talents in the Bulgarian rock scene.

  • A to UPgrade

The A to UPgrade Project focuses on training artists-performers for the successful realization of their creative products on local and international stages. Mobile application

The “Musical Guide to Stage Spaces in Bulgaria” is the result of the two-year project for wide-ranging mapping of the music sector in the country, which the BMA launched in 2020 as part of its sectoral initiatives. The aim of the project is to improve information provision and support the development of effective cultural policies and financing mechanisms.

The application is open to all stage spaces in Bulgaria, offering easy and quick access to an extensive array of data. This enables artists-performers to plan their activities without wasting time on additional research, making the process more efficient and easy.

We believe that this product will be of great benefit not only to the music sector, but also to all other performing arts, helping to facilitate their integration and development in the cultural scene of Bulgaria.

The app will be free for download at the end of January 2025.
