The Bulgarian Music Association (BMA) has launched the initiative “Stage – New Music”, aimed at the development of young musicians and the promotion of the alternative music scene in Bulgaria. The project will organize concert events, practical training and mentoring sessions, which will provide participants with valuable experience and real opportunities for performance.
The project, led by the famous musician and cultural figure Vasil Gyurov, is a continuation of the BMA’s efforts to create a sustainable and accessible concert environment for young performers. The main goal is not only to provide a stage for performance, but also to prepare artists for the challenges in the music industry through professional mentoring and practical guidelines for organizing, technical support and promoting events.
After the successful renovation of the “Academic” Chamber Hall in the National Student House at the end of 2022 with the support of the BMA, the space has established itself as a key platform for independent artists. Over the past two years, over 30 concerts have been held there, giving young musicians the opportunity to present their music to a wide audience. The new project builds on this initiative, including an expanded program of events and a more systematic approach to the development of performers.
As part of the “Stage – New Music” initiative, 12 concerts will be organized in 2025, in which young groups and performers will be accompanied by proven professionals in the field of music management, production and marketing. The first two events that launch the project will take place on 22nd and 23rd of March. On 22nd of March the Tsvet group will celebrate 2 years since its creation, and on 23rd of March Rosette, Spas and Bearing Flowers will perform on stage.
“Academic Hall has already proven its potential as an alternative stage for young talents. With this project, we want to not only give them a stage, but also prepare them for the real challenges in the music business. Our goal is to build a new generation of confident and independent artists,” says Vasil Gyurov.
The BMA project “Stage – New Music” is being implemented with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality and will contribute to the long-term development of the independent music scene in Bulgaria, by providing young performers not only a platform for performance, but also the necessary skills for a successful career. The initiative meets the strategic priorities for the development of the cultural sector and the stimulation of young artists in Sofia, by providing a more accessible and sustainable model for their support.
