The MOST Project is a unique €4 million initiative aimed at connecting the music sector on the Balkans with the European markets and at laying the foundations for long-term recognition and professional success for Balkan artists. Initiated by Hangvető in partnership with 10 organizations, MOST ended with impressive success and became an important driver of cultural exchange and business development in the region.
Co-funded by the „Creative Europe“ Program, the project has established itself as a new model for regional development that strengthens regional identity and generates business through culture. The main objectives of the project were skills development, networking and knowledge transfer. Benefiting from the financial support and expertise of the leading organization Hangvető and their 10 partners, such as Piranha Arts, Bozar, Songlines and the Bulgarian Music Association, the project created new opportunities for the Balkan artists and professionals.
MOST expanded the skills of participants from 9 Balkan countries, focusing efforts on four main areas: “Export of Balkan Music”, “Festival Exchange”, “Management Training” and “Urban Projects”. As a result, the Balkan music became increasingly recognizable on the international stage, and new export offices, collaborations and artistic initiatives began to materialize throughout the region. The project successfully caused a change in perceptions of the Balkans and presented their cultural diversity and innovative musical trends.
