The 13th edition of the European Forum on Music (EFM) will be held in Brussels on 11th and 12th of June, under the theme “Celebrating Musical Diversity”. This year’s theme is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005), which recognizes both the cultural and economic value of art.
Within the framework of the forum, the panel “Just recognition and fair remuneration for musical artists” will feature Mila Georgieva – Vice-President of the Bulgarian Music Association and member of the board of the European Music Council (EMC).
She will present the point of view of independent artists from Bulgaria and the region, emphasizing the need for adequate recognition and sustainable remuneration in the music profession. The panel will examine examples from different countries, social and legal mechanisms for supporting artists, as well as how the UNESCO Convention can be used as a tool for real change in cultural policies.
The event will bring together key representatives from the cultural sector, institutions and creative networks to discuss the future of European cultural policies, including in the context of the next long-term financial framework of the EU (2028–2034). We are proud that the voice of Bulgaria and the BMA will be part of this important conversation about the rights and future of artists in Europe.
