Marina Vasileva, member of the BMA Board of Directors, participated in a round table “33 years later – the big conversation about private copywriting in Bulgaria”, organized by Musicautor within the framework of the initiatives surrounding the first CISAC General Assembly in the Balkans.
Representatives of leading European and international organizations (CISAC, GESAC, SAA, IFRRO, etc.) participated in the discussion, with emphasis placed on the lack of an effective mechanism for private copying in our country.
Bulgaria remains the only country in the EU that has not fully implemented this mechanism. According to a study by Alpha Research, this leads to losses of nearly 28 million leva for authors in the past year alone and slows down the development of the cultural sector.
The Bulgarian Music Association will continue to work actively for legislative changes that would guarantee fair compensation for artists and sustainable development of culture in Bulgaria.
