The Bulgarian Music Association (BMA) was invited to participate in the first edition of India International Music Week – a key step in opening the Indian music industry to international exchange in popular genres. The event brought together leading labels, music companies, festivals, clubs, as well as high-level management from Spotify India, Google and other technology and consulting giants. The conference was also attended by delegations from many European countries, as well as the International Independent Labels Association (WIN), which organizes a number of activities related to the independent music scene.

The Deputy Chairwoman of the BMA Board, Mila Georgieva, took part in the panel “Music in the Heart of Policy”, as well as in a networking meeting between European exchange platforms and representatives of the Indian music industry. The main discussions was focused on the presentation and promotion of artists from European countries in India, as well as on the opportunities for exchange of educational initiatives in the field of music. Other highlights of the conference included the opportunities for international collaborations, the role of policies in the development of the music sector and the future of the global music market.

The event was complemented by an international showcase with over 30 concerts, presenting the diversity of the world music scene.

BMA continues to strengthen its international networks and actively work to build new partnerships and opportunities for Bulgarian artists at the international level.

The “Musical Guide to Stage Spaces in Bulgaria” is the result of the two-year project for wide-ranging mapping of the music sector in the country, which the BMA launched in 2020 as part of its sectoral initiatives. The aim of the project is to improve information provision and support the development of effective cultural policies and financing mechanisms.

The application is open to all stage spaces in Bulgaria, offering easy and quick access to an extensive array of data. This enables artists-performers to plan their activities without wasting time on additional research, making the process more efficient and easy.

We believe that this product will be of great benefit not only to the music sector, but also to all other performing arts, helping to facilitate their integration and development in the cultural scene of Bulgaria.

The app will be free for download at the end of January 2025.
